This page includes information for NUT School Representatives
We need your help with the 5 Term Strike
Please visit these two pages on the site that give further information:
More schools are considering moving to academy status. Whilst some heads and governors see this as a favourable option in the short term there are many drawbacks, especially for those who work in the school.
For more information about the implications of becoming an academy click here
Once heads and governors embark on moving to academy status things can happen very quickly and without much if any consultation. Groups of NUT members in schools, along with staff from other unions if possible, are urged to pass a resolution opposing academy status so that heads and governors are aware of staff opposition before they consider academy status. A model resolution for use in your school can be found here We strongly urge you to hold a meeting and pass such a resolution. Please contact us if you would like a local officer to attend the meeting if you wish. Once agreed, the resolution should be sent to the head and governors, with a copy for the NUT please.

Each year Nottingham NUT holds a School Representatives’ Briefing This is next expected to be held in the Autumn Term. All reps will receive an invitation to attend nearer the time.
NUT Courses for school representatives are held periodically either locally, or at the NUT’s training centre at Stoke Rochford Hall, near Grantham, Lincolnshire. Details of these courses can be found here
Help! We need up to date members email addresses:
Nottingham NUT are trying to improve our communication with members. Postal mailings to all members are too expensive to do regularly and are not always responsive to changing circumstances, so we are trying to make better use of email. At the moment we hold active emails for about 60% of our members but would like to get that figure up to 90% at least. Can you help by collecting email addresses from members at your school? Just email their name and email to email@example.com
Your help as a school representative is invaluable to the Union. Thank You!
